Companies that sell energy under contract to households and small businesses in Ontario must be licensed by the OEB. However, we do not regulate their prices.
These companies, also known as gas marketers or electricity retailers, have to obey the laws and rules that protect consumers from unfair or misleading business practices. By April 30th every year, companies must certify to the OEB that they have the proper processes and controls in place to follow the laws and rules.
