Associate Membership Eligibility

Associate Membership is available to suppliers and other businesses providing services, goods, or products to Independent Grocery Stores.

Eligible categories include:

Suppliers & Manufacturers
Businesses supplying products and goods to independent grocery retailers.

Distributors & Brokers
Grocery distributors, wholesalers, brokers and related partners.

Operational & Technology Services
Businesses providing equipment, technology, operational support and other services to independent grocers.

Professional & Business Services
Marketing, consulting, legal, media and other professional services supporting independent grocery businesses.

Associate Membership connects your business directly with independent grocery retailers across Canada. Through CFIG events, industry programs, and networking opportunities, Associate Members can build meaningful relationships, showcase products and services, and stay connected with key trends and developments in the independent grocery sector.

Policy Advocacy

CFIG advocates on behalf of independent grocers and industry partners by engaging with government officials, regulators, and decision-makers on policies that impact the grocery sector, including alcohol regulations, payment fees, labour issues, and food affordability.

Member Guidance and Support

We help members navigate regulatory changes and industry challenges by providing guidance, answering questions, and supporting issue resolution where possible. CFIG works closely with members to help them stay informed and prepared.

CFIG works to amplify the voice of independent grocers and their partners through media engagement, industry collaboration, and strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the concerns of the independent grocery sector are heard and represented.

Payment and interchange fees

Pushing for lower costs, greater fairness, and stronger guardrails for payment processing.

Labour and workforce

Supporting efforts for greater flexibility in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program while recognizing the need for accountability and responsible reform.

Affordability and pricing policy

Responding to policy proposals and government actions that may unfairly place pressure on grocers, including retail price interventions and grocery pricing studies.

Supply chain and inspection issues

Raising concerns where government changes may negatively affect grocery operations and the broader food supply system, including opposition to cuts affecting the Destination Inspection Service.
