John Pecman

Commissioner of Competition | Competition Bureau of Canada

At this year’s Grocery innovations Canada (GIC) a special guest speaking to and fielding questions from our GIC delegates, will be John Pecman, Commissioner of the Competition Bureau of Canada. One of the top priorities of the Bureau currently pertains to investigating certain practices taking place in our industry, which many believe to some extent, is a result of consolidation within both the retail and manufacturer sectors.

What Mr. Pecman has to say will be of direct and very relevant interest to you and the future of your business or company.   We have been able to arrange that as part of this session, questions sent in advance, unfiltered, will be posed directly to the Commissioner.  Any of our members and GIC delegates will have the advantage of being able to send us their question(s) in advance, with the added guarantee of complete anonymity as to the source of the question.  We simply want those questions to be of relevance to our industry.

SEND YOUR QUESTIONS to be posed at GIC to gsands@cfig.ca

Two years ago, when the Commissioner spoke at Grocery Specialty & Food West in Vancouver, he did so to a room filled to capacity.  Outside of our registered delegates, we were not able to sit all those who wished to attend and believe that with issues currently challenging us as retailers, that this will again be the case in Toronto.   We hope to see you at GIC and to hear first hand about how current practices and trends in the food industry that impact retailers, wholesalers, distributors, processors and manufacturers, are being viewed from the perspective of the head of the Competition Bureau of Canada.

Together we can make this happen.
