The Ontario Deposit Return Program, which strives to eliminate the alcohol containers from landfill. Under the program, customers pay a deposit when they purchase beverage alcohol in Ontario. They collect a full deposit refund when they return their empty beverage alcohol containers to the Beer Store, LCBO Agency or empty bottle dealer.
This program has recycled over 2.9 billion alcohol containers since 2007 turning into useful products such as new containers, cat mats, seat belts, carpeting, clothing, fibreglass insulation and cardboard.
This is a great program to prevent millions of containers from entering Ontario’s landfills each year!
