Following our correspondence on the current RFE for authorizations to sell beer, cider and wine in grocery stores, be aware also of the expansion, announced by Minister Fedeli, of beverage alcohol sales to 200 new LCBO Convenience Outlets in underserved communities.
This initiative gives existing local businesses across Ontario the opportunity to sell a full range of beverage alcohol products on behalf of LCBO, expanding convenience and choice for local residents, and offering economic benefits to the host business and the wider community.
LCBO has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking applications from local retailers in 200 Ontario communities. The opportunity is open to retailers of all sizes in these communities.
The deadline for applications is June 25.
The LCBO is expediting the RFP process to allow new Convenience Outlets to open as soon as possible, and has simplified the application process for businesses accordingly. Businesses are strongly encouraged to download the RFP and begin their applications as soon as possible.
The RFP documents can be downloaded here, and there is no fee to apply. All eligible business applicants will be entered into a lottery for each community, and at least 60 successful applicants are expected to begin sales by the end of August 2019.
