Dear Valued Partner,
We would like to remind you of the upcoming deadline of December 31, 2021 for the Mastercard MCL 3.0 compliance mandate.
This mandate requires that all POS terminals which support Mastercard contactless must be able to support MCL 3.0 by December 31, 2021.
This mandate was initially announced by Mastercard in 2014. The original deadline for compliance was January 1, 2019 and Moneris worked with Mastercard to get the deadline extended to December 31, 2021.
Over the past several years, Moneris has been working with merchants and their integration partners through email notifications and call out programs.
Merchants with standalone devices have been contacted by Moneris to arrange a remote download or terminal swap and merchants with an integrated device have been advised to work with their integrator or independent software vendor.
If merchants are unable to achieve compliance by this date, they may be in violation of Mastercard’s rules and regulations and their merchant payment processing agreement with Moneris. As a result, the merchant may be subject to termination of their payment processing services, and will be responsible for Mastercard non-compliance assessments of up to $100,000 USD per violation.
Moneris will be continuing their email and call out programs over the next few months to make every effort to ensure merchants meet the deadline.
If you have any questions about this mandate, please contact your relationship manager.
Sincerely,
Moneris Solutions
