CFIG Retailer Membership is designed for independent and franchised grocery retailers across Canada. As the national voice of independent grocers, CFIG advocates on the issues that matter most to retailers while providing members with industry connections, insights, and support to help their businesses succeed.
Who Can Join
Retailer Membership Eligibility
Retailer Membership is available to any independent or franchised grocery store operating in at least four (4) of the following departments
Fresh produce
Dry Grocery
Meat or Seafood
Frozen
Dairy
Bakery
Deli
Retailers who operate e-commerce or online-only grocery businesses may also qualify and are typically assigned to the Large Retailer Membership tier.

We help members navigate policy and regulatory changes by providing guidance on issues such as the Grocery Code of Conduct, identifying systemic concerns affecting retailers, and supporting issue resolution when challenges arise.

CFIG works to amplify the voice of independent grocers through media engagement, government relations, and collaboration with industry partners. This helps ensure that the concerns of independent retailers are recognized and considered in decisions that affect the grocery sector.
